Membership

 

The ambition is to build a broad association for all those academics and professionals who have been trained in or are working in Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research, as well as for all those professionals and academics who are interested in Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research, women’s rights, gender equality and diversity.

Members of the association have to be a legal entity, i.e. an institute with a legal status or a physical person. All members can participate in the general assembly. The general assembly will meet at least every three years in conjunction with the conference.

The following categories of membership are envisaged:

1)       Individual members:

  • Academics working in the field of Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research
  • Individuals working to promote women’s rights and equal opportunities in a range of settings (central or local government, private enterprise, NGOs, etc.)
  • Students and young researchers at MA level or above with an interest in the field of Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research

 

Individual members can come from any country, providing they have an interest in the European dimension of Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research and gender equality.

2)       Institutional members:

  • Higher education and research institutions in the field of Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research
  • Libraries and documentation centres in the field of Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research
  • Local, national or regional associations and institutions in the field of Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research
  • Local, national or regional associations, women’s centres, and NGO’s in the field of gender equality, women’s rights, etc.

 

Institutional members can come from organisations, institutions, associations, etc. in any country, providing they have an interest in the European dimension of Women’s and Gender Studies and Feminist Research and gender equality.

Individual and Institutional members pay an annual fee and receive the benefits from membership which include:

  1. Reduced registration fees for the European Gender / Feminist Research Conference
  2. Reduced rates for a number of academic journals, including the European Journal of Women’s Studies and Feminist Theory (subject to negotiations with Sage and other publishers)
  3. Regular information about the associations’ activities through the digital newsletter and website
